Our Studio Space before the 4 PM Sunset Flow
We love our afternoon sessions at Funk! Actually we love all of our class offerings... BUT.. There is something special about the 4pm, practicing with the sun on our backs, a slower flow, and then extended savasana with lavender eye masks. Join us Monday-Friday for 4pm Sunset Flow in addition to our Daily Soul Powered Flow at 9am. We love you all and look forward to practicing with you, ask about our special 5 Pass when you reach! Also, a playlist: Balance Beat xoxo Jacq |

"Consider all of the pain and all the pleasure
you have ever experienced as waves on a very deep ocean which you are. From the depths, witness those waves, Rolling along so bravely, always changing, Beautiful in their self-sustaining power. Marvel that once, you identified with Only the surface of this ocean. Now embrace waves, depths, undersea mountains, Out to the Farthest Shore." Insight Verse 135, from Radiance Sutras: Lorin Roche Inspired by this Insight Verse always. Enjoy the playlist below, Be Fluid. xo Jacq
Find a seat. Sit up nice and tall. Take a few thoughtful breaths here to arrive. Take your left hand to your heart and your right hand to your belly. With a little bit of pressure of the hands, breath into your palms. Feel yourself here. Spacious, open, available.
Turn your attention toward your tenderness. To your sweetness and softness. To the generosity of your gentleness. To your kindness with every breath in and out. Smile knowing it's all right here. ---- This week's playlist is inspired by Otis Redding, starting with his 1966 version of "Try a Little Tenderness." What a beautiful song to remind us to tune into our soft side. Move through some classic soul songs, smooth rhythms, and retro vibes. Move freely, kindly, and fluidly through your practice. ENJOY. xoxo Jacq
Hola Everyone!
Jacq here, I am sitting in a cafe in Puerto Viejo hours away from starting my 300 hour training with Hari Om. I am excited and a bit nervous! It's already been one hell of a year so far. Kelly, our rockstar instructor, has left the island after 4 beautiful years teaching on Little Corn. She was around during the days of "when we have a studio..." and she is a huge part of the heart of Funk. She will be missed madly and we know she will be back in the future for visits, and more! Our dear friend, Greg Palmerino, is running the studio in my absence. We met Greg back in the day when we all taught at Firefly and he is just an incredible and radiant instructor and person. Check him out at www.gregoryjyoga.com. I am so grateful to have him running the joint with David. Haily is also helping him with classes, she regularly teaches at the Lighthouse and has been subbing for us this past year. Check her out at www.hailycryan.com, not only is she a passionate and wise instructor, but she is a creative goddess. So while the winds of change are blowing wild and free, we stay grounded, centered, and aligned. Funk has some big things coming to you in the future and we are grateful to have your ongoing support. Stay tuned for more updates! And to our Funk Family: I love you all from the depth of my soul and to infinity and beyond. Also... a playlist! xoxo Jacq
Savor the Stillness.
This week, I am sharing a very quiet and relaxing playlist. Please set to shuffle as songs are in no particular order, or listen as is. This music is ideal for a morning yin practice, meditation time, light background sounds, or even just before bed. Enjoy! From my mat to yours, Jacq Photo by Lindy Lewan Photography ![]()
"We are made of atoms. Scintillating. So why do we try and stop them? Change them? Hurt and rearrange them? We forgot that deeper than any perceived failure is this radiance." -Elena Brower
Wise words from my dear mentor, Elena. I truly love this little gem and reminder. Today let's make it an intention to let our light shine through. Let's scintillate. xoxo Jacq and the Funk Fam p.s. Live from Glenside, Pa! Below is my playlist from last night's class at JTown Hot Yoga, enjoy.
You guys....
I have fallen deeply in love with the Radiance Sutras, a magical and profound perspective on the Vijnana Bhairava Tantra. "This body is made of earth and gold" has now become a mantra for myself and for my mediation. It is divine! The book is a yoga and mediation MUST READ! Have you read yet? I hope you are having the best day and giving yourself love. Don't forget your body is made of earth and gold. Enjoy the playlist below! with love from my mat to yours, Jacq & the Funk Fam
Greetings from the Zen Den with this quickie reminder:
Whenever you feel inadequate or that you are not enough, please remember the magic and radiance you possess in being able to come back to the NOW. The present moment is all we have, and coming back to it guarantees us the beauty of awareness, acceptance, and attention. How cool is that? From my magic moment to yours, Jacq P.S. Post Sweaty Funky Flow at Jenkintown Hot Yoga (Photo: Elise Streckenbein)
Jacq here,
Still up in Pennsylvania and having the best time. Last night I had the pleasure and grand opportunity to lead a class at Jenkintown Hot Yoga, a GORGEOUS space to practice in the town over from where I grew up. It definitely turned into a SOUL SWEAT, as we flowed and expressed ourselves through our practice. Thank you to Elise & Stefanie for having me and I am looking forward to returning in August when I come through the area again! Two things, lovies: This was the inspiration behind yesterday's sequence, No. 60 of the Radiance Sutras (Lorin Roche, PhD): "Rocking, undulating, swaying, Carried by rhythm, Cherish the streaming energy Flooding your body As a current of the divine. Oh Radiant One, Ride the waves of ecstatic motion Into a sublime fusion of passion and peace." Oh I just love that little nugget of goodness. Also, last night's playlist below! Be sure to follow us on Spotify and share. xoxo Jacq
Hola!
Writing to you from Glenside, Pennsylvania, where I am off to celebrate my cousin's graduation from High School. I wrote in Danny's card: 'Shine on you crazy diamond.' I love this because it reminds us to allow our souls to continue to be scintillating and radiant. In fact.. an even more inspiring lyric from that Pink Floyd song is "Remember when you were young you shone like the sun." Think of how illuminated children are, a constant emanation. So let's embrace that childlike wonder, our playful selves and let's shine on. Enjoy your weekly playlist and have a beautiful weekend. xoxo Jacq |
